My husband, Nick.

Hello Friend,

Today is Nick’s 39th birthday and I thought this would be a perfect time to share our family’s story.

I met Nick in 2005 on a blind date. Aside from his charm and good looks, the thing that drew me to him was his drive and determination. He was working full-time as a senior software engineer for a major non-profit in DC while attending law school four nights a week. Despite his “full plate” he seemed to easily excel at everything he did. In fact, not only did he graduate law school with honors and with a place on his university’s law review, he received extra recognition given to the part-time student with the highest GPA.

Soon after, we got married and began a family while Nick furthered his law career as a public defender in Colorado, defending those unable to afford an attorney. We always knew we would come back to Phoenix and plant our roots, just like his grandfather did in 1942. That time came when Nick stepped up to take over as the third generation to run his family’s 76-year old small business.

Not only is Nick an exceptional leader and businessman, he’s a wonderful father and I’m truly blessed to have him as my partner, cheerleader, and support as we venture through parenthood together. Three of our four children, Ruth, Joel and Ava, attend school in Phoenix Elementary District 1 and have enjoyed having their father attend field trips and volunteering in and out of the classroom. The entire family was also excited to celebrate the birth of Zane, our fourth child, on June 8th.

People always ask me how I feel about Nick’s run for mayor. Frankly, I couldn’t be more proud of this endeavor. Not only is he the most qualified candidate; with a history of helping anyone he can, a strong legal background and ability to negotiate with folks from all walks of life, and a small business owner that knows how to make tough decisions and work within a budget, he’s also the only candidate that won’t sacrifice the good of ALL Phoenicians for special favors owed to outsiders.

Phoenix is our home. We are proud to be a part of this wonderful city and even more excited to take the next steps that will make Phoenix the best city for every one of its residents.

Help celebrate Nick’s 39th birthday by contributing $39 to the campaign today.
