RChain Cooperative Newsletter August 16th | Welcome our new COO

Newsletter Archive

The RChain Cooperative is happy to announce that it has brought on Kenny Rowe, co-founder of the MakerDAO project, to act as Chief Operations Officer and to hold a seat as one of the Board of Directors for the organization. We consider this is a large step forward because the RChain Cooperative aims to build upon the governance process' that Maker has implemented so successfully with their DAO.

To help better understand Kenny’s perspectives, we asked him a few questions.

Q: “What excites you most about the RChain Cooperative?”

A:  “RChain cooperative is an interesting solution to the governance problem of blockchain technology. I  believe there are lessons to be learned form previous forms of governance, and a cooperative model could be especially effective in this regard. The fact that every member has a voice and is in alignment is important.”

Q: “Which areas do you see that the RChain Cooperative has room to expand upon?”

A: I think RChain has a difficult challenge ahead. It will not be easy to create a scalable blockchain to serve the needs of the world. It will take the best efforts of many people to make this dream a reality. However, I think RChain is uniquely position to address these challenges and truly transform how the world works.

Q: “What excites you most about Dia's applications in the world?”

A: I think crypto currency is the best form of money humanity has yet invented. However, it can be even better if the value remained stable. With a stable value all kinds of new use cases open up, from more efficient predictions markets, global trade settlements, to an inflation resistant form of savings.

In Other News

Alex Bulkin, another invaluable contributor to the RChain Cooperative, has begun an article series that highlights RChain's differentiating innovations and whats to be excpected coming soon.

The first article is RChain series: Introduction that aims to give an overview of the process calculi math that underpins the platform. This series is developer focused and will highlight Rholang, Casper Proof-of-Stake, and every other key differentiator that RChain is offering.

Also, activist contributions has ramped up considerably. Jake has created a voting DApp PoC that works as a chrome plugin, Kit and company have worked on an ai-bot implementation to slack that works to improve support and knowledge curation. These projects are still all unoffical, community driven and experimental in their nature, but we are happy to see such community projects explored and are looking forward to even more activist engagement.

Activists meet one hour before the offical weekly debrief, every Wednesday at 10AM(PDT) as well as collaborate through github issues.
