Hello MLTC Members,

Yesterday, March 15th, Governor Charlie Baker announced a set of new measures to tackle the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. One of those measures was to decrease the number of people in a single gathering from 250 down to 25, "...that brings together 25 or more people in a single room or a single space at the same time".  This number is even lower than the CDC's recommendation of 50 people or less and it is a welcome change that we fully support.  The more people you crowd into a single, small space, the greater the likelihood of viral transmission.

At the MLTC, a typical class has four participants along with one instructor across 7,200sqft.  If this is extrapolated across the space of two tennis courts as we have at MLTC East, then it's 10 players over nearly 15,000sqft.  Although we are far below the threshold of 25, we are still looking at ways to further mitigate any risks to our members.  Please read the additional measures we are taking as well as what we are requesting of our members:

• In our junior clinics that utilize multiple courts and that would typically start out on a single court for their warm-up, we will now be sending players directly to their regular court to do a separate warm-up with their instructor.
• We have managed to acquire large amounts of hand sanitizer and placed them at both facilities for your use.
• Once players have completed their class or finished on their rental court, we ask that you please exit the facility as soon as it is convenient.
• Parents, if you are bringing your child to their lesson and your child is old enough to enter the building by themselves, then we would ask that you please drop them off and opt not to enter the building.  If you feel your child needs an escort, then please walk them into the building until they meet up with their instructor and then exit the building.  After doing errands or waiting in your vehicle, come back into the facility just prior to the conclusion of his/her class to pick them up.  Understandably there may be a need for you to remain in the building, however we would request if it is not necessary, then please observe this safety measure.

The last request is the most difficult because we know how much parents enjoy watching their kids.  It's also difficult for us to ask because we love having parents enjoy the great viewing area that the club offers.  On the other hand, we want to do everything we can to increase the level of safety within the club during a very emotionally taxing time in our history.
