Chambers Asia-Pacific 2022 released

In the rankings, released by Chambers & Partners, GRATA International has confirmed its standing as one of the leading firms in Central Asia and Caspian region. Teams in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan received ratings across major practice areas.

Samat Daumov, representative of GRATA International in the UAE, took part in the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship

On November 15, 2021, the ABU DHABI WORLD MASTERS JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP 2021 World Championship was hosted in the United Arab Emirates.

Samat Daumov won a bronze medal, had a total of three bouts, of which he completed two with a great advantage.

Samat has been actively involved in jiu-jitsu for several years, in 2019 he became the World Champion in Abu Dhabi, was a multiple winner of international competitions.

Marat Atyshev, representative of GRATA International in Shymkent took part in the YPO Forum

On November 18, 2021, the 3rd business forum YPO FORUM: "Business in a new reality" was held in the city of Shymkent at RIXOS.

YPO (Young Presidents Organization) is a closed international club of businessmen with branches / chapters in each country. In total, there are 25 thousand club members in the world - they are successful owners or business managers.

The forum was opened, and a welcoming speech was made by the akim of Shymkent - Aytenov Murat Duysenbekovich, after which the participants of the forum showed a video about the investment opportunities of Shymkent.

Famous entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan spoke at the forum, who shared their experience: Ramil Mukhoryapov, Armanzhan Baytasov, Rauan Kenzhekhanuly, Timur Turlov, Erkebulan Ilyassov, Aydin Rakhimbayev, Aibek Sattybayev and others.

During the forum there were Q-A section, where the participants discussed business and interesting cases from their experience.

The AIFC Court and the IAC - an oasis of justice recommended for companies from the CIS countries for transnational transactions

GRATA International Law Firm LLP won two civil cases in favor of its client in the Astana International Financial Centre Court and the International Arbitration Centre for a total amount of claims exceeding US$ 4 million.

On November 16, 2021, the AIFC Court Justice Sir Rupert Jackson issued a judgement in a major civil case, the dispute in which lasted more than six years.

Marina Kolesnikova, Counsel of GRATA International in Almaty, recently hosted a seminar on Labor legislation

On November 26, 2021, GRATA International had a meeting on behalf of the Labor Law Club.

The meeting offered a timely overview of topical aspects of the application of the labor legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

  • Changes in working conditions. Labor organization conditions.
  • Remote work. Innovations.
  • The procedure for the implementation of activities for the provision of personnel

Marina Kolesnikova, Counsel of the Almaty office of GRATA International was a speaker at the meeting.

During the meeting, the participants asked questions, to which the speaker gave detailed answers.

Partners of GRATA International spoke at the Business Briefing on Doing Business in Kazakhstan

On November 22, 2021, at RIXOS Almaty, a Business Briefing on Doing Business in Kazakhstan, organized by the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX), was held.

The Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) is the institution in charge of the development and management of Wallonia’s domestic and international economic relations.

Yerzhan Yessimkhanov and Shakhrukh Usmanov, Partners of the GRATA International law firm spoke for the Trade Mission of Belgian companies in Kazakhstan.


GRATA lawyers had a discussion with representatives of Belgian companies about the legal aspects of doing business in Kazakhstan, including the issue of choosing the form of a permanent establishment, government procurement, dispute resolution and tax issues.

GRATA International Law Firm held online conference on PPPs in Eurasia

On December 2, 2021, GRATA International held the final international online conference: "Public-private partnership and infrastructure development in Eurasia: recent changes in legislation, main problems and opportunities" for this year.

The conference was moderated by Shaimerden Chikanayev, Partner of GRATA Kazakhstan.

The conference touched upon the latest changes in the legal and state policy of infrastructure development, changes in the PPP legislation in the Eurasian region, including judicial practice, PPP projects in the countries of GRATA’s presence.

At the end of the conference, the speakers answered questions of interest to the audience.
