GRATA International Azerbaijan will hold a webinar on Doing Business

An online webinar on Doing business in Azerbaijan will be held on the 3rd February, 2022.

Azerbaijan is a state with a well-developed industrial sector. Industrial output accounts for almost 60 percent of GDP. The country has the richest reserves in oil and natural gas, concentrated directly in the Caspian Sea. There are also deposits of iron ore, several mineral resources, etc.


At the moment, Azerbaijan is one of the most attractive countries for doing business. The economy of this country is developing quite actively and is favorable for business.

Regarding doing business, as in many areas, clear and comprehensive planning is the basis of any business.

In this regard, at the webinar, leading lawyers from the Baku office of GRATA International will cover the requirements from the corporate, labor, migration, and tax points of view of doing business.

Update on recent events in Kazakhstan

Dear clients and colleagues, 

As many of you know, the recent events in Kazakhstan caused temporary disruption to our direct communications with clients as the internet connection was not fully available in most parts of the country. 

Nevertheless, GRATA maintained its commitment to ongoing projects. Utilising the firm's IT infrastructure and cross-office corporate practices, teams in other countries of the network were able to provide a near seamless service to clients with urgent Kazakh law matters.

The situation has now stabilised and all offices in Kazakhstan are fully operational. Our team apologises for any delays that might have been caused by the latest events and would like to thank you for your ongoing trust and support.

The Legal 500, which is widely acknowledged as the world’s largest legal referral guide, has recently released their Asia-Pacific rankings. GRATA’s office in Ulaanbaatar was ranked in Tier 3 and identified among the leading law firms and experts in the country.

The team headed by Bolormaa Volodya, who supports the firm’s strong mining practice as well as the  labour, competition, intellectual property and civil practices, received high accolades for their corporate and commercial law matters. GRATA International was a sponsor of the Chamber of Arbitrators 2021 competition


On December 16-17, 2021, the final stage of the International Student Competition on International Trade Law and International Commercial Arbitration "Chamber of Arbitrators - 2021" was held in Minsk.

The competition models the resolution of a dispute on the basis of the Arbitration Rules of the International Arbitration (Arbitration) Court of the “Chamber of Arbitrators under the Union of Lawyers”, developed on the basis of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

The organizers of the competition expressed special gratitude to the team of GRATA International referees: Dmitry Viltovsky, Alexander Korsak, Natalia Zhuk (Belarus), Mikhail German (St. Petersburg), Askar Konysbayev (Kazakhstan), Elvira Maratova (Kyrgyzstan), whose highly professional refereeing allowed the participants of the final the atmosphere of a real arbitration case.

GRATA Beijing participated in the SCO International Conference in the People's Republic of China

On December 21, 2021, the SCO International Conference was held in Beijing on the topic "The role and opportunity of the Central Asian countries in provision of organic and ecological products through the implementation of advanced technologies."

The Conference was organized to develop an investment cooperation within the SCO framework. The organizers were the SCO Secretariat, the Embassies of the countries of Central Asia and the PRC.

The Conference program included the presentations and speeches of the advisers on trade and economic matters of the Embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, representatives of the diplomatic corps of the SCO member states, observer states to the SCO, SCO “dialogue partners”, business structures accredited in the PRC.

Gulnur Nurkeeva, Partner and Head of GRATA Beijing Office, took an active part in the Conference and held effective business meetings with representatives of the Embassies and business structures.
